Love City Triathlon Course Directions
The Tenth Annual Love City Triathlon will take place on St. John, USVI on
Sunday, August 31st, 2008. Consisting of a half mile swim, fourteen mile
bike ride, and a four mile run. The event begins in Maho Bay then circles
St. John and ends at the Annaberg Ruins. Start time is 7:00 AM.
The Second annual Duathlon is a fairly new event, consisting of a half
mile swim and a 3.4 mile run. The duathlon is run at the same time as the
triathlon. The duathletes swim the same half mile at the same time as the
triathletes, then as the triathletes ride up the hill towards Cruz Bay,
the duathletes run in the opposite direction, and finish at the Annaberg
Ruins.
Participants in the triathlon can do all three legs competing as an
individual or form a relay team with one or two other participants and
each compete in one or two legs.
Participants in the duathlon must compete as an individual. There will be
no relay category in the duathlon. Please note this is a change from last
year.
Award divisions for the triathlon are top 5 male, top 5 female, top 3
relays, and the Inter-Island Award. The inter-island competition is open
to all residents of the Caribbean. A team must have 3 members doing the
triathlon individually, and the team must have a female. The top 3
combined times is declared the winner and will have their islands name
mounted on a trophy which is displayed in the establishments of a sponsor. Last
year's Inter-Island winner was St. John!
Award divisions for the duathlon are top 5 male, top 5 female. Please
note: the duathlon relay category has been eliminated. Last year's
winner, beating all the duathletes, male and female, was Theresa Harper from St.
Croix. She has set the mark high. Hopefully she will be back to keep
things interesting.
Registration fees are as follows:
Individual triathletes-----$30.00
Relay triathletes----------$25.00 per person
($75.00 for a 3 person team/$50.00 for a 2 person team)
Duathletes------------------$30.00
Registered participants can take advantage of a complimentary night stay at Maho Bay Camps the night before the event, August 30th. USVI, BVI, PR, and other Caribbean residents receive a 50% discount on additional nights. The complimentary night and discount applies to the tent cottages. Please note, the deadline to take advantage of this offer is Thursday, August 28th.
Race numbers and goodie bags can be picked up on Saturday, August 30th at
Maho Bay Campgrounds from 4:00 - 5:30. This is also the last opportunity
to sign up for the race.
THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATION ON THE MORNING OF THE RACE!!!!
THERE WILL BE A MANDATORY PRE RACE MEETING AT MAHO BAY CAMPS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 30TH AT 5:30PM.
